The Hunger games are the yearly games put on by the Capitol to entertain the people of the Capitol. They are a brutal survival of the fittest type game that pits young people from different districts against each other. Only one "tribute" is meant to survive. Following each Hunger Games, the Capitol runs a Victory Tour featuring the victor or victors of the previous Games travelling around Panem. Much of the philosophy behind these games and parades are to provide entertainment and maintain control over the masses.
