Who is Fidelito from The House of the Scorpion and what is their importance?

Fidelito is one of the younger Lost Boys, who befriends Matt. Jorge calls him Matt's lackey, and whwn Jorge tries to punish Matt by beating Fidelito, likely to death, Matt and Chacho beat Jorge and are thrown into the boneyard. Fidelito assists Ton-Ton in rescuing Matt and Chacho, and he escapes from the plankton factory with the other three boys.
