Who is Mrs. Small from The House of Dies Drear and what is their importance?

Thomas' mother, Mrs. Small, wasn't happy about the to move to Ohio, and she didn't like the house of Dies Drear. She did, however, understand its history, and she appreciated the excitement her son and husband saw in it. Mrs. Small even offered to help scare the Darrow brothers away in order to protect the treasure of Dies Drear.
