Who is Dies Drear from The House of Dies Drear?

Dies Drear is a New England abolitionist, who moves to Ohio in order to construct a home for use in the Underground Railroad. Dies is murdered by Southern slaveowners for his work on the Railroad, and it is rumored that he continues to haunt his former home, along with the two slaves that died with him.
