Bird's Journal is a Biblical metaphor. Alma finds Bird's journal under her bed. Even though it is marked "Private", she reads through it and discovers that Bird believes he may be the Messiah, and that he believes a flood is coming. He has been building an ark or raft of some sort at the vacant lot where his lemonade stand is located.
