Colonel Tuan said Americans were well-disciplined and generous, but that they, nevertheless, made many mistakes during the war. In addition, he said Americans seemed to be a people without a culture. Colonel Tuan himself had read much American literature and saw American culture in a different light, but he said the average Vietnamese did not see a unique or valuable culture.
