A modest people, the Tamils single most noticeable attribute was a love of conversation. Theroux found them to be extremely talkative and especially enjoyed discussing the "big" issues -- life, truth, and beauty. In fact, Theroux said the Tamils were the most content when they had intense conversations over vast amounts of food.
