Who is the antagonist in The Great Divorce by C. S. Lewis?

I think the antagonist in the Great Divorce is the characters, who are unable to let go of their pain, against themselves. They cannot join Heaven and the bright people because they cannot surrender the emotional vices they have come to rely on in the earthly world.
