Describe symbolism in The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

The turtle slowly crossing the highway is a symbol for the Joads, and other migrant workers, travelling to get somewhere. Despite the dangers of the trip for both the turtle and the Joads, they both keep moving.
