What is the theme in The Good Person of Szechuan by Bertolt Brecht?

One major theme in the novel, The Good Person of Szechuan, is identity. This theme is illustrated through the growth of main character, Shen Teh, and the character she creates, Shui Ta. Shui Ta, as a man, can do all of the things she cannot.
