What is the main conflict in The Good Life by Scott Nearing?

The main conflict in the novel is the Nearings inability to protact their ideal from modernization and tourists. Their dream was meant to be a way of life.... not a tourist attraction. This is the main reason the Nearings gave up their Vermont farm and moved to main to start over.
