Who is O-lan from The Good Earth?

O'lan is Wang Lung's first wife, who served in the House of Hwang as a slave before her marriage. She isn't considered beautiful, and she has overly large feet, as they were never bound. O'lan was an excellent, loyal wife and helpmate to Wang Lung.
