Who is Saran Lewis from The Glory Field?

Saran was born into slavery in 1827 at the Live Oaks plantation. She married Moses Lewis, also a slave, and had three children..... all boys. She was a loving, caring, helpful wife and mother. After gaining her freedom, she was employed as a caregiver for young, blind boy named David Turner.
