What was the difference between Jonas' house and the Annex?

The biggest difference between Jonas' house and the Annex was the books. He had never seen a book outside of the few his family had in their dwelling (a reference book and a dictionary). The Annex had walls of books..... hundreds of them..... maybe thousands.
