What are the motifs in The Giver by Lois Lowry?

Vision is a constant motif through the story. Jonas sees in color; Jonas sees a red apple; Jonas has pale eyes: Jonas sees twinkling lights of a different community. All of these examples represent Jonas's ability to see beyond the forced conformity of the community.
