On the surface of things, the "family unit" looks happy and content. It is actually pretty dysfunctional. The parents have an emotional IQ that is not that far from the children. The parents can only think and solve problems within the narrow parameters given to them by the Elders. The family exists within the very narrow context of superficial experiences and knowledge. The family has uncomfortable awkward "sharing" experiences when the children are compelled to divulge their innermost secret thoughts and feelings.
