Compare your life to The Giver. In what areas of your life do you have free choice? In what areas of your life are you controlled?

When one compares one's life to the Giver, one has to look at the overall picture of the Giver's lifestyle and calling. He chooses to bear the good and the bad events for humanity, which is a calling and a sacrifice on his part, since he can't share any of those feelings and events with anyone but the receiver. There are often times in everyone's life where they feel as if they have choices and where they have no choice whatsoever. The lesson to take away from the Giver is that you work with what you are given and work within the limits to make your own happiness.
