Who is the antagonist in The Gift of the Magi by O. Henry?

I actually don't think there is a clear antagonist in this story. If anything, poverty is an antagonist but poverty also helps them discover the couple's sacrifice and devotion for each other. She sells her hair and he buys a brush for her.
