Why does one student decide she is not as in love with her boyfriend as she thought she was?

One student decides that she is not as in love with her boyfriend as she thought, because she would not kill herself because of him. The class is reading Romeo and Juliet and the student cannot believe that Juliet stabs herself over a guy she knows for only a few days.
