Modern life in Californis is a recurring idea.
Nobody likes to hear that the most prosperous nation in the world has an undeclared urban war occurring within its borders. In fact, as the reader peruses the pages of this book, s/he may at first glance toss aside this notion rather than face the fact that it may, indeed, be true. But as the story unfolds and as the personal stories roll in, one after another, the evidence piles higher and higher until the reader is forced to consider that perhaps, we, as a nation, have a problem. Depending on where the reader lives, this war may seem far enough away to not merit attention.
