In The Fledgling, after Elenor's birthday, Georgie goes out and climbs up on the fence and begins to fly off, but Miss Prawn stops her and then is very nasty towards her. This is a bit of symbolism in that it shows how some adults are so rigidly concerned with image and conformity that they hold back and hold down the beautiful connection that the young have with nature and their on innate divinity.
