What elements of foreshadowing can be seen in the first part of "Down at the Cross"?

The author's discussions of Christianity foreshadow the revelation of similar concerns with what the author contends is a similar sort of faith - the Nation of Islam, portrayed in this section as a positive alternative to Christianity but which becomes, in his experience narrated in the following section, just as hollow a faith.
