Comment on setting

The Eyes of the Dragon is written in many, short chapters, many of these chapters consisting of as little as a paragraph. There are one hundred and forty-two chapters in the novel, even though it consists of less than four hundred pages. Each chapter follows only one point of view at a time, moving from character to character or consisting of straight narration from the narrator. This technique of using many, short chapters gives the illusion of moving the story along at a fast pace, but in reality the story tends to move slowly in the first half of the book.
