Who is Father Franco from The Dead and the Gone and what is their importance?

Father Franco is a priest at St. Margaret's. he is derscribed as a caring man, who helps his congregation in any way he can. While he is unable to help Alex find his father or mother, he does secure a place for Briana on a farm, which helps to feed her. Father Franco also advises his congregation about when to evacuate and gives them information on electricity and food.
