Who shoots Aringarosa and what are the implications of that?

As Silas is being confronted by the police, he accidentally shoots Aringarosa. Since Silas thinks of Aringarosa as a sort of father figure, he is crushed at the thought of wounding his mentor. This seems to imply that more bad things are ahead for Silas, especially since the police have shot him and now he and Aringarosa must go to the hospital.
