Langdon's reaction to the murder is one of surprise and confusion. He was scheduled to meet with Jacques and seems concerned about the fact that he is considered a suspect in the murder, as well as the fact that he himself might be the next target. Langdon also seems confused and amazed at the pictures of the crime scene that he saw, since he questions the police chief, asking if Jacques really did to himself what Langdon saw in the photographs.
