What are your views on religion, especially as it relates to Silas so far in the story?

My views on religion, especially as it relates to Silas in the story, are that everyone has a right to believe what he/she wants, as long as it helps him/her feel better and doesn't harm others. However, in Silas' case, not only is he physically harming himself and keeping himself from having pleasure, but he is also so full of anger that he is harming others. So, I feel that in Silas' particular case, it's not beneficial for him to have his religious beliefs. In fact, it's quite harmful to himself as well as those around him.
