Why does Stan choose to leave his job as Harry's assistant in the film, The Conversation?

Stan, Harry's assistant, have been working together for many years. As a result, Stan knows more about Harry's business than anyone, but even that leaves him with relatively little information. Harry's unwillingness to share the secrets of his life and work eventually frustrate Stan to the point where he leaves to work with Bernie.
