Hawaiian natives accept volcanic eruptions as acts of God or part of the nature of the islands. They do not try to stop the flow through bombings the way the U.S. Army Air Corps does. Instead, Native Hawaiians pray and make offerings. The U.S. Army Air Corps, on the other hand, takes drastic measures in an attempt to block or redirect lava flows to protect nearby cities and towns.
