Why does the patient want to be castrated, and what happens to him?

The patient felt guilty about his sexual thoughts and feelings, and wanted to be castrated to stop them. He tried to do the operation himself at home, but bled to death before Dr. Wilcox could find the proper procedure to help him in his medical guide.
