I find Mark to be very brave for an eleven-year-old boy, but I also find him immature for the tasks he's set for himself, and as a result, he is foolhardy and a poor decision maker. From the text , we can infer that Mark loves his family and is concerned for their well-being, although, some of his actions disprove that belief. Thus, he is courageous.... and he's also very smart. In my opinion, he gets lucky.
