Who is Nicolas, the Queen's Chronicler and Chief Historian from Beauty's Punishment and what is their importance?

Nicolas is the Queen's Chronicler and Tristan's Master in the Village. He joins the expedition to rescue Beauty after obtaining permission to rescue Tristan as well. His feelings are hurt when Tristan does not want to be rescued. Nicolas is in love with Tristan and eventually, he admits this and the two reunite. He learns to be the strict Master that Tristan needs.
