Who is Bethany Waites aka Alice Cooper

Bethany Waites is the central character in the novel because the members of the Thursday Murder Club are searching for the person who murdered her. Bethany was a promising young news reporter when she disappeared. It was believed she was murdered because her car was found at the bottom of Shakespeare Cliff. Traces of her clothing and blood were found inside the car.

In reality, Bethany faked her death after she was threatened by a criminal she had been investigating. Andrew sent Bethany a bullet with Mike’s name engraved on it along with a note asking her to meet him. She believed she had no choice but to stop pursuing her story and disappear.
