Karim's infatuation with Charlie starts fading as he realizes Charlie may be charming, but is truly cruel and manipulative. Karim is beginning to resent Charlie and seizes the opportunity to call Charlie merely "ordinary." Charlie reacts poorly, breaking up his band and leaving town.
