Who/what does matt care about the most?

Matt really cares about Daisy. Daisy is Matt's mother. She died of breast cancer before the novel begins but she has left a lasting impression on Matt's life. Matt remembers things she taught him, such as how he should look, and he relies on that training as he faces his life without her. Daisy taught Matt about cooking and he has to ease back into the habit of cooking after she is gone.
