Upon Florent's return to Paris and the charcuterie, he begins to notice that his brother's life is decidedly bourgeois. La Belle Lisa insists that as Quenu's brother, Florent is entitled to a portion of Uncle Gradelle's money. Florent refuses, saying that his needs are simple and requests that La Belle Lisa hold onto his share for when he absolutely needs it. Florent begins to settle in to life with Quenu and La Belle Lisa but cannot make up his mind as to what he might like to do as far as work is concerned.
