Upon finding the man who has broken into his business, Frank initially subdues him and takes his pistol away from him. He then asks some questions of him. Upon coming to the decision the young man is a student who intends no harm, Frank sends him off with a copy of Selwyn's book of poetry. He then locks up and proceeds home, tossing the pistol into the river en route.
