What are some examples of Nellie Cooper's lack of enthusiasm for the things she does?

Nellie Cooper has a peculiar lack of interest in much of anything, which she admits to Frank when he is courting her. They meet at a choral society that was doing Hiawatha, however, Nellie confesses that she honestly has little interest in the matter. Nellie is about to take her examination to qualify as a teacher, but states that she does not like teaching that much. Frank keeps seeing her despite her apathy, and they are soon engaged.
