What is the author's tone in The Basic Kafka by Franz Kafka?

The narrators of his stories, especially those told in the first person, generally are represented as educated people. A term called Kafkaesque refers to the writings of Kafka and his surreal tone and sense of impending danger that permeates many of his story, as well as his personal writings.
