Who is Mava Alan from The Bar Code Tattoo and what is their importance?

Mava Alan is Tova's wife. She knows that doctors are purposely killing old people who are hospitalized because the cost of nursing care is so expensive. Mava suffered a broken hip, but she refused to go to the hospital because she knew of this practice. When Tova wrecks their car, she tells Kayla she won't possibly survive once she's in custody and urges Kayla to run away.
