How does the author use foreshadowing in The Balcony?

In Scene V, Carmen essentially has no power, but in her portrayal of the Virgin, she gains a little power for a little while. In this specific scene, she reflects upon having her power taken away, which foreshadows the situation in which Irma finds herself at the end of the play.
