Zakaria represents Mazna’s potential future and what she lost. When they first meet, Mazna feels that Zakaria is her future. She imagines living her dream with him by her side and moving to America or London together. When Zakaria dies, Mazna feels that her life is over. She marries Idris because she feels like nothing is left. This is why she sees him before she decides to give Idris a child of his own. In the end, Mazna feels that she is married to Zakaria just as much as she is to Idris.
