Theme of family

The concept of family is present throughout the entire novel through everyone’s interactions with each other. At first, Idris’s family is incredibly dysfunctional as they all struggle with their own personal matters. However, they begin to reconnect when they return to Beirut which shows how important it is that family stays together despite the troubles.
