Who is Stevie Taggert from The Alienist and what is their importance?

Stevie Taggert is one of Kreizler's employees. At one time, he was considered to be a criminal, but Kreizler was able to diagnose his mental illness and have him treated. He now acts as Kreizler's assistant.
