How is Senhor Pimentel described in the novel, The Air You Breathe?

Senhor Pimentel is said to have “darker coloring” and a “Roman nose” (13). Dores describes him as a “jingle”: seemingly “harmless at first,” but after letting it “stake its claim…you can’t escape it” (19). He gives flirtatious attention to the housemaids. After his wife dies in childbirth with a son, Senhor Pimentel begins drinking often. He has trysts with the housemaids, some as young as his own daughter. His appearance became unkempt, and he was crass while he drank, insulting Graça’s singing performances for him.
