Who is Inspector Lestrade from the collection, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes?

Inspector Lestrade is the well-repsected and able Scotland Yard detective that Holmes often works with on cases. Lestrade thinks that Holmes's method is suspect, and Holmes finds Lestrade a little bone headed, but the two work together well and Sherlock will often give the credit of the case to Lestrade.
