Who is Richard from The Acid House and what is their importance?

Richard is a gay bartender. He was Chrissie's lover when she was Christopher, and feels betrayed by his/her change. Richard loved Christopher and retains his loyalty to Chrissie, as well as keeping the secret of her transexuality.
