Why is Marcos hesitant to leave a job he finds morally corrupt in the novel, Tender is the Flesh?

Marcos's father, Don Armando, is a resident at the New Dawn Nursing Home. Located "between his house and the city," the nursing home is "the best and most expensive facility in the area" (43). Because New Dawn is so expensive, Marcos feels incapable of leaving his job despite his moral conundrums. He also does not want to change his father's care, as he believes he deserves a place like New Dawn.
