Who is Caroline Fisher from Tangerine and what is their importance?

Caroline Fisher is Paul's mother. She is obviously interested in both Paul and Erik and spends more time with Paul than his father does. Paul's mother sets out on their move from Houston to Florida as one might begin a military endeavor. Paul makes a note that his mother insists that the house be in perfect order before she leaves it as if the impression of the buyers matter to her, even though she doesn't know the buyers.
