Why cannot Bianca get married in Taming of the Shrew?

In Taming of the Shrew, many men want to marry Bianca, whose sister Katharine, the eldest daughter of Baptista of Padua, is known for her angry, shrewish nature. Baptista insists his youngest daughter, the gentle Bianca, shall not wed until Katharine is wed.
